Abstract
Samples of 42 potsherds and 4 porcelainsherds have been collected randomly from the middle part of Korean Peninsula for the determination of 17 trace-constituent elements by neutron activation analysis using a Ge(Li) detector and a computer system. The samples have been classified by the hierarchical centroid sorting method. All of the potsherds were found to be classified into a group within dissimilarity of 24% with an exception which was deduced to have come from the Yongnam area. This result shows that two parts of the Peninsula were isolated completely from each other. Only two among four porcelainsherds formed a distinct group with dissimilarities of 37% each other, but 55% with potsherds respectively.
